Corsetry is where I started, and still informs much of my sewing today. The now-abandoned Teacup Corset Project was an excuse for me to practice my design and construction skills by creating corsets based on each and every teacup in my personal collection of over 60 unique teacups; I only got about 1/5 through before deciding it was too ambitious. Other themed corsets were made for the stage, as special occasion items, or event wear.
Most of my Formal items are personal, and these pieces often feature painstaking details and time-consuming embellishments that I’m reasonably sure nobody could ever afford to pay me to include in commissioned work; I like to treat my personal creations as a way to showcase ideas, materials, and skills I might not have opportunities to use in other projects.
